WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FROM MY LAWYER?

(THE INFORMATION IN THIS SITE APPLIES TO GEORGIA ONLY)

There are four things you should expect from us as your lawyers: honesty, advocacy, diligence, and communication.

Advocacy: We are your advocates, and our job is to diligently put forward the legal, medical, and factual arguments that put you in the most favorable position we reasonably can to win your case.  You should expect us at all times to act in your best interest within the bounds of professionalism and the law.

Honesty: At the same time you should expect us to be honest. We will not lie or conceal evidence, and we will not let you, or coach you to, lie or conceal evidence.  And we will at all times be honest with you.  While we are hired advocates for your position, and we will advocate fiercely (and professionally) in front of the opposing parties, it is also our job to be forthcoming with you privately about the weaknesses of your case. Every case has some difficult spots and we would not be doing our job for you if we were always a cheerleader and we failed to keep you apprised of the negative news which comes from time to time in any case.

Diligence: You should expect us to be diligent in pursuing your case.  It will not be the only case we have, and sometimes there are things that we must wait for, like a response from an expert witness, a hearing with the judge, a trial date set by the judge, or a discovery schedule which is not solely in our control. But when we reasonably can, we will be pushing your case along to its conclusion expeditiously.

Communication: Finally, you should expect us to communicate regularly and clearly with you. We will regularly keep you aware of the progress of the case and we will be available to answer your questions and seek your instructions from time to time. If we are trying another lawsuit or away on a deposition trip or hearing, we may not be able to return your telephone call immediately. We should have someone else from the office return your call if we cannot, and we will always return your call when we become free to do so.  The single most common complaint about lawyers is failure to communicate on a timely basis with their clients.  We pledge never to be guilty of that one.
